Contributions to the Community: Flashes of Hope
I first found out about Flashes of Hope in the Winter of 2008 when a good friend of mine [and an excellent lifestyle shooter!] volunteered for a shoot at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia [CHOP]. The black & wihte portraits that he did of the kids sent me immediately to the Flashes of Hope web site to see if they had a Chapter in New Jersey.
When I found out there there were none here, I immediately called them and asked them about opening a Chapter for them in New Brunswick at The Bristol Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where I've had a long friendship with the Director of Child Life.
It has been absolutely wondrful running this Chapter for the last year, organizing each of the monthly shoots, getting the volunteer photographers and makeup stylists involved and then packageing all of the images to give to the families! Over that period, we've photographed 74 kids and their families!
The only downside to it is that I don't get to take the photos more often!
